Henry County Board of Education Appoints Dr. Darius Freeman as Principal of Locust Grove Middle School

HENRY COUNTY, GA – The Henry County Board of Education recently approved Dr. Darius Freeman as the new principal of Locust Grove Middle School.

“I’m incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as principal of Locust Grove Middle School,” Dr. Freeman said. “I believe the strongest schools are built on trust, relationships, and a shared commitment to student success. I’m excited to work alongside the entire Locust Grove community to continue fostering a positive school culture, strengthen academic achievement, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.”

Dr. Freeman has 17 years of experience in education and most recently served as an assistant principal at Luella High School. He is a transformational educational leader with experience fostering student achievement and staff development in diverse school settings.

“We are excited to have Dr. Freeman as the new principal at Locust Grove Middle School,” said Assistant Superintendent Kevin Van Tone. “His strong leadership skills, passion for education and students, and extensive background as an educator will ensure a positive and supportive learning environment which will lead to improved outcomes for students at Locust Grove Middle School.”

Dr. Freeman holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Valdosta State University, as well as a master’s degree and doctorate in educational leadership, both from Mercer University.

“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Freeman to his new role as principal of Locust Grove Middle School,” said Superintendent Dr. John Pace III. “Dr. Freeman brings a proven track record of fostering continuous improvement and partnering with students, staff, families, and community members to create an environment where students feel known, challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed.”

Freeman began his tenure July 1 as principal of Locust Grove Middle School.
